Second issue of WWoL published!

Women’s Writing Online wants to serve as a forum for literary, cultural and feminist research, but from the very beginning we have also been looking into the possibility of publishing fictional texts and translations on our website. Now we are happy and proud to publish Izabela Filipiak’s My Life as a Rabbit, translated into English by Karen Kovacik and Izabela Filipak as the long waited second issue of WWoL.

Enjoy Filipiak’s drama in English here.

FEMINIST LITERARY CRITICISM - HISTORICAL AND TRANSNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES

University of Tampere
School of Modern Languages and Translation Studies
Friday, 29 October 2010, Lecture room Pinni B3109

Welcome to the closing symposium of the research project Generation, National Identity, the Body: Polish and Russian Women’s Writing in Transformation (PURU). The aim of the PURU research group has been to investigate what happens to feminist literary theories and concepts when applied in the (post-socialist) East European context; to engage a comparative approach to women’s writing and to investigate subjectivities situated in Russian and Polish culture and literature. For this symposium the research group has invited well-known scholars of Polish, Finnish, and Russian literature to look at women’s writing in a cross-cultural feminist perspective.

Welcome to Women's Writing Online

This homepage was originally started as an information channel for our research project on Polish and Russian women's writing funded by the Emil Aaltonen Foundation (2007-2010). During the project we started publishing an annual Women's Writing Online journal at the website and now it has become the main purpose of this site. The main aim of our journal is to popularize academic research on women’s writing, art, film, theatre, cultural history in both Poland and Russia as well as in other countries of Eastern and Central Europe. In addition to our journal you will find here information on seminars, conferences and publications on the topics mentioned above.
